Llŷn Peninsula sea kayak guided trips and coaching

The exact itinerary is weather dependent but we aim to undertake some of the classic great trips available to us on the Peninsula which could include the Tudwal Islands and stunning cliffs near Trefor, Aberdaron or Porthor.

These trips are now offered by Anita through Antur Natur please go to https://www.anturnatur.wales/seakayaking.

Kayaking Bardsey Island

Further Information

The Llŷn Peninsula (aka Lleyn Peninsula) coast is a designated Area of Outstanding National Beauty (AONB) and a Special Area of Conservation (SAC). It offers the sea kayaker a range of interesting coastlines to explore from steep rocky cliffs, off shore islands and beautiful beaches. With a choice of north or south coast and sections with and without tidal flow we can find areas to paddle in most weather conditions. Ynys Enlli (Bardsey Island) guards the western end of the peninsula, and it looks tantalisingly close, but with strong tidal currents we will need kind winds for us to venture over.

The cliffs and beaches provide habitats for a range of sea birds. In June there will be a plethora of nesting birds to see, including guillemots, shags, and kittiwakes. The rocky coastlines also provide excellent opportunities for rockpooling and foraging. We should see plenty of seals and possibly some cetaceans. There is a long tradition of human connection with the coast on the Llŷn Peninsula so nearly every beach and headland has a story. There are coastal historic monuments such as the iron age promontory fort at Porth Dinllaen, medieval castle at Criccieth and religious sites associated with the pilgrimage route to Ynys Enlli.

We will be based at the campsite identified as the meeting point above. You are welcome to join us camping there or stay in other accommodation nearby, please contact us if before you book as we may be able t get you a discount. If you do not have your own sea kayak and/or transport please notify us when booking.

The exact itinerary will be determined by the weather and the ability of the group. We can provide led trips, coaching or a mixture of both during the weekend. Ideally you will need to be able to paddle for a minimum of five hours each day. Please let us know your experience when you book to help us plan accordingly and to give you tips on preparation. Suitable for participants over 18 years only.
